Overview
This feature is part of the Multiple Shipments Per Order bundle and allows users to place a single order with multiple shipments that require different shipping methods based on the different items in the cart. Items can be tied to a subset of shipping methods so that not all shipping methods may tie to all the products in the cart. The order will typically be split into child orders before being pushed to the ERP as noted in – Multiple Shipments Per Order . Each shipping method will be a separate shipment.

With the Shipping Classes feature enabled a new section displays on the product add/edit page to set the shipping class on the product. Only one shipping class can be set per product.

Shipping Classes on Shipping Methods
When the shipping classes feature is enabled a new section shows on the Shipping Method add/edit page for “Filter by Shipping Class for Restricted products”. The method can be set to show for all classes or for specific shipping classes. Multiple shipping classes can be assigned to a given shipping method. The shipping method will only show available if there are products matching the criteria.

What a Customer Site User Sees
Customer site users will see the shipping methods that apply to the products in their cart. If a different set of shipping methods apply to different products then the system will split the cart into multiple shipments. If nothing is done to a shipping method it will default to be available for all products. If a product does not have a shipping class assigned all shipping methods will be available even those with specific shipping classes assigned.
