Overview
This article is intended to provide directions on the necessary steps to ensure CIMcloud can update/validate your Acumatica ERP sync configuration to accommodate your ERP version upgrade. Typically no updates are required, but CIMcloud would like to review the system after the upgrade to help validate things are running as desired.
After a release of a new Acumatica Major Version (2023R1, 2023R2, 2024R1,…) CIMcloud will do internal integration testing to verify that the standard sync process continues to work after doing an upgrade to that new major version. The standard CIMcloud integration pulls data using OData to the website and uses the Acumatica standard REST API to imports data into Acumatica. We do not typically expect any impacts to these processes with a version update. If at any point we determine actions are required we will post them here and make notes in the questionnaire mentioned below. Even though we do not expect any issues during the upgrade, it is safest to turn off the data sync during the process. We do ask that you fill out the questionnaire and let us assist with validating the upgrade and to keep us informed in case there are issues that pop up after the upgrade. If you are doing a tenant switch or URL change for you final production upgrade CIMcloud must be involved in the process to make sure the sync is pointed to the correct location and to ensure data integrity.
If you are testing the upgrade in a sandbox prior to upgrading your live environment, we do not feel it is typically necessary for CIMcloud to test against this sandbox. Upgrades do not typically impact CIMcloud and it is not necessarily cost efficient for you to pay for a website sandbox site and database. If you feel this is needed as part of your process, note that in the questionnaire and costs will be provided to you.
Your website will continue to function during the upgrade. Data will just not be syncing while the sync is turned off. Once the sync is turned back on any orders, payments, etc.. that were queued during this period will begin syncing from the website to Acumatica. Any data that was updated during this period that modified the date updated on records synced to the website will sync over to the website.

The CIMcloud ERP Upgrade Questionnaire
The first step in starting the ERP upgrade process with CIMcloud, is to complete the online ERP upgrade questionnaire, located here.
This completed form will provide critical information needed by our team to plan, scope, and schedule our portion of the ERP upgrade work. Please be thorough when completing this form.
A CIMcloud Extranet Ticket will be created for the upgrade based on the questionnaire that will be used to communicate information abut the upgrade.
Roles & Responsibilities
If this upgrade does not involve a server move, tenant switch, or sandbox testing the process of turning of the sync can be performed by a worker with access on your team (as noted below) and the validation after the upgrade is complete will be performed by the CIMcloud Support Team.
If the upgrade involves a server move, tenant switch, or sandbox testing then prior to the upgrade you will work with our Pro-services team to give you a quote and coordinate the upgrade.
Estimates and Scheduling
The level of effort and cost for CIM Pro Services to complete their portion of the ERP upgrade varies depending on the type of upgrade. Once the ERP Upgrade Questionnaire has been completed, our team will provide an accurate estimate based on project requirements.
*Please note: We request a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice prior to your ERP upgrade for proper scheduling and resource allocation.
Process Overview
The following is for “Upgrades in Place” where nothing is changing in the location of the Acumatica instance. If there is a tenant or server switch then the CIMcloud Pro-services team will coordinate with you on the process and timing.
- You can disable the sync tool just prior to the upgrade. This will stop CIMcloud from moving data in and out of Acumatica during the upgrade. To do this go to Settings Workspace> System Wide Settings > ERP Driver Services in the Worker Poral. Stop all but the QueryBuilder service. If you disable this don’t worry things should still be fine.

- Once the services show stopped you can perform the upgrade. During this time the website is available just not communicating with Acumatica.
- After the upgrade is complete go back and start the services (the Stop button will not show and a Start button will be in its place)
- Update your ticket in the CIMcloud extranet to let CIMcloud know the upgrade is complete.
