Overview
CIMcloud uses HTTP Cookies for partial data-storage to access information more quickly, which decreases hits to the database and increases the performance of your site.
What is contained in CIMcloud Cookies?
CIMcloud creates a cookie on the user’s computer to store information about the user across the website. Our cookies contain information like the session id, customer id, account id, and order ID. More information about the data collected below:
- Session ID
- This is a unique identifier required to distinguish user activity
- Once a user hits a page on your site, it first checks if the cookie contains a session ID. If it does not, then it will generate one to store in the CIMcloud Cookie
- Customer ID
- For both anonymous and logged in users, we generate a customer ID
- This is used to quickly query information in the database about the anon, or logged in, customer for:
- Pricing information
- Data rights
- Expected Functionality
- Customer information
- Account ID
- For logged in users, we store the account ID
- This is used similar to the customer ID to run queries in the database for the account logged into your site
- Order ID
- When a session is created, we generate an order ID, unless one already exists for your current session. If the user logs in, we pull the order ID from the previous session to retain any pending orders that have not completed their order
- Customer Information
- The following information is collected to quickly access data through the checkout process to decrease hits to the database:
- Username
- First Name
- Last Name
