Overview:
Workers are users (usually employed by the platform owner) with extended rights compared to Contacts (users attached to customer accounts). Workers’ rights are assigned by the platform administrator via the Workers link in the Settings Workspace.
When creating a new Worker or editing an existing record, the Worker Rights interface is displayed near the bottom of the page, as shown below.
Application of the Worker’s rights is filtered by the “Accounts this Worker is Authorized to See” section (shown on the right).
Step-by-Step Process Using the Settings Workspace:
- The default Worker rights are included as part of the site configuration. Additional customer-requested rights can be added by CIMcloud Pro Services if required. Rights available for assignment appear in the “Available Worker Rights” pane on the left and are assigned to the Worker record using the “+” icon.
- Select the appropriate filter to restrict the Worker’s access (this determines which customer accounts that the Worker is able access to use the assigned rights).:
- Matching Account/A_ID restricts to only the platform owner’s account (rarely used)
- Accounts with rep code match grants access to every customer account assigned by the Worker’s rep code (synchronized from the ERP software)
- Show All Accounts grants access to every customer account on the website
Worker Rights Defined:
Quotes Tracking – Allows editing of customer quotes requests and two-way w/Conversation Logs communication with customer regarding changes to the quote.
Access Content – Worker is able to add and edit website content (Web Page Catalog Workspace pages, slide shows, images and files, menus and navigation).
Access Product – Grants right to add and edit the Product Catalog (products, Workspace product categories, featured products, etc) and view pricing records.
Access Settings – Allows editing system settings, adding and editing Worker Workspace records, editing merchant account setup, tax calculation, etc.)
Allow Account Adds – Worker can create new accounts on the website.
Allow Account Edits – Worker can edit existing account information.
Allow Address Adds/Edits – Worker can add new shipping addresses to Account and/or Contact records and can edit information on existing addresses.
Allow Shipping Price Edits – Worker can edit shipping methods and change amounts charged customers
Allow Customer Adds/Edits – Worker can add new Contacts (users) to customer accounts and can edit existing Contact records.
Assigning Rights When Using Data Import/Export to Create Workers:
When adding or editing Workers using the Data Imports/Exports task, the following table shows the specific ID values for each right assigned to the worker. The exact value displayed in the right column is to be inserted in the user_rights_vir column of the CSV file. When a Worker is assigned multiple rights, the values are added to the field separated by semi-colon delimiters.
