Overview
Are you considering or planning to change the URL of your live CIMcloud website? This article covers some items to consider as well as the process for starting the update with CIMcloud.
Considerations
The list below is not exhaustive but provides several items to consider before changing the URL of your website:
- SEO Impact
- If you have a public facing website, you will want to account for SEO. Creating 301 URL redirects will tell search engines that your URL change is permanent and help preserve rankings. Also consider updating any tools like Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Analytics Tracking, etc. of your new URL.
- 3rd Party Integrations
- If your website is integrated with 3rd parties applications, you may need to inform/update the 3rd party of your URL change. For example, if you utilize Punchout on your website, you will need to inform the 3rd Party procurement system and/or Punchout vendor.
- Plan for notifying customers
- Consider how you will communicate the change to your customers, especially if they bookmark pages on your site.
