Switching Your Existing Credit Card Gateway

Overview

We frequently receive requests to switch credit card gateways on customer’s sites.  A majority of the time, this will be a minimal change; however, there are instances when making a switch to a different gateway can be more involved.  This article provides you information to help us switch your existing credit card gateway with less disruptions.

Audience for this Article

Existing customers with a credit card gateway processing live transactions on your site that you would like to switch to a new credit card gateway.

Steps

Submit a task to extranet that you’d like to switch your credit card gateway.  Please provide answers to as many of the questions below as you can, which will help us determine the complexity of making this change on your site:

General Questions

  • Company Name
  • Lead contact for the gateway switch
    • Name
    • Phone Number
    • Email
    • Title/Team

Current Gateway Information

  1. What ERP and version are you on?
  2. What is your current credit card gateway?
  3. What authorization type are you currently using?
    1. Pre-Auth
    2. Auth-Capture
  4. Are you using vaulted CCs on the website?

New Gateway Information

  1. Which gateway are you switching to?
    1. If switching to Century Business Solutions – are you currently calculating sales tax with Avalara?
      1. If so, the authorization type will need to be set to pre-auth since there are issues with Avalara sending us a different tax schedule than what is used in Sage, causing the totals to be incorrect
  2. Will your authorization type change with the new merchant?
    1. Yes
      1. If so, to what?
    2. No
  3. Does the new gateway allow credit card vaulting?
  4. Do you have a contact at the new gateway we can reach out to for questions?

Site Configuration Information

  1. Do you have recurring orders?
    1. Yes
      1. Are recurring orders using CC payments or billme?  Are the CC’s vaulted?
    2. No
  2. Are you allowing users to Pay Invoices Online?
    1. Yes
    2. No
  3. Do you allow customers to pay by ACH for Orders?
    1. Yes
    2. No
  4. Do you allow customers to pay by ACH for Invoices?
    1. Yes

  5. Do you process international CC transactions now?
    1. Yes
    2. No
  6. Are you expecting to process international CC transactions after the switch?
    1. Yes

  7. How many Merchant IDs do you process with now?
    1. One

  8. Are you currently collecting CVV codes?
