Geographic Policy Descriptions

Overview

This article includes details about the geographic policies implemented by CIMcloud for use in geo-restricted offerings available for use by CIMcloud customers that would like to restrict the countries of origin their site can be viewed from.

CIMcloud has chosen to create groupings based on recognized global relationships and alliances listed below with information linked from each.

Please note, the allow-list policies listed below are additive, meaning that each policy incorporates the values from all previous policies to allow access from additional countries.

Countries within each policy will be kept up-to-date by monitoring the sources provided for each policy below and public nation state actions. Updates to policies will be announced prior to implementation to allow any changes to be applied that may be needed.

United States Policy (US)

This policy only allows traffic originating from within the United States.

Countries Allowed United States only

United States Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)

While this agreement is a Free Trade Agreement as in the next policy, this agreement includes the 2 closest relationships geographically to the United States. This agreement can be found on the Free Trade Agreement portal at https://ustr.gov/trade-agreements/free-trade-agreements/united-states-mexico-canada-agreement.

This policy allows traffic originating from within the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Free Trade Agreements (FTA)

This policy includes the remainder of countries that the US has a Free Trade Agreement with which can be found at https://ustr.gov/trade-agreements/free-trade-agreements.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within the United States or countries the United States has a Free Trade Agreement with.

  • Australia, Bahrain, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Peru, and Singapore.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

The North Altlantic Treaty Organization is a 32 nation state member collective that was created in 1949. The members of this groups can be found at https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/topics_52044.htm.

This policy only allows traffic originating from a country participating in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

European Union (EU)

The European Union is a collection of European states created after WWII and acts as a single market with a single currency. Members of the EU can be found at https://european-union.europa.eu/principles-countries-history/eu-countries_en.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within countries that are members of the European Union.

  • Åland Islands, Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Netherlands Antilles, Poland, Réunion, and Saint Martin (French Part).

Western Europe and Other Groups (WEOG)

The Western Europe and Other Groups administrative grouping is used by the UN to organize its members. Members of this group can be found at https://www.un.org/dgacm/en/content/regional-groups.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within those countries that are Member States of the UN regional group Western European and Other Groups.

  • Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino, and Switzerland.

  • Canada, Iceland, Norway, and United Kingdom (NATO Policy).

Eastern Europe States (EE)

The Eastern Europe States administrative grouping is used by the UN to organize its members. Members of this group can be found at https://www.un.org/dgacm/en/content/regional-groups.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within countries that are Member States of the UN regional group Eastern European States.

  • Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Georgia.

Asia-Pacific States (AP)

The Asia-Pacific States administrative grouping is used by the UN to organize its members. Members of this group can be found at https://www.un.org/dgacm/en/content/regional-groups.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within countries that are Member States of the UN regional group Asia-Pacific States.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within countries that are Member States of the UN regional group Latin American and Caribbean States.

This policy only allows traffic originating from within countries that are Member States of the UN regional group African States.

This policy only allows traffic originating from countries that are members of the United Nations.

State Department Watch Lists (SDWL)

The United States State Department monitors threats from nation states and individuals working within nations and maintains a list of countries that should be avoided if possible. These lists include Countries of Particular Concern, Special Watch List Countries, and Entities of Particular Concern.

Policy entries are based on designations from December 29, 2023 and can be found at https://www.state.gov/countries-of-particular-concern-special-watch-list-countries-entities-of-particular-concern.

Countries Blocked Algeria, Azerbaijan, Comoros, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam.
